چکیده
Abstract Investigating cooperativity of interlocutors is central in studying pragmatics dialogue. Models conversation that only assume cooperative agents fail to explain the dynamics strategic conversations. Thus, we investigate ability identify non-cooperative while completing a concurrent visual-dialogue task. Within this novel setting, study optimality communication strategies for achieving multi-task objective. We use tools learning theory develop theoretical model identifying and apply analyze different strategies. also introduce corpus conversations about images GuessWhat?! dataset proposed by De Vries et al. Learning non-cooperative dialogue behaviours
Non-cooperative dialogue behaviour has been identified as important in a variety of application areas, including education, military operations, video games and healthcare. However, it has not been addressed using statistical approaches to dialogue management, which have always been trained for co-operative dialogue. We develop and evaluate a statistical dialogue agent which learns to perform n...
متن کاملCognitive culture: theoretical and empirical insights into social learning strategies.
Research into social learning (learning from others) has expanded significantly in recent years, not least because of productive interactions between theoretical and empirical approaches. This has been coupled with a new emphasis on learning strategies, which places social learning within a cognitive decision-making framework. Understanding when, how and why individuals learn from others is a s...
متن کاملOperational Definitions of Walkable Neighborhood: Theoretical and Empirical Insights.
BACKGROUND The concept of walkable neighborhoods is increasingly important in physical activity research and intervention. However, limited theoretical understanding and measurable definitions remain a challenge. METHODS This paper reviews theories defining neighborhoods and offers an empirical approach to identify measurable attributes and thresholds of walkable neighborhoods. Bivariate and ...
متن کاملModeling Law: Theoretical Implications of Empirical Methods
We examine a long-standing research program in empirical Political Science, fact-pattern analysis (FPA). We connect FPA to definitions of legal rules in jurisprudence and positive political theory. Foundationally, theoretical treatments view rules as functions partitioning case spaces into equivalence classes. Connecting FPA to formal theory has two advantages: first, many elements of the tradi...
متن کاملExtended Abstract: Computational Models of Non-cooperative dialogue
Cooperativity is usually seen as a central concept in the pragmatics of dialogue. There are a number of accounts of dialogue performance and interpretation that require some notion of cooperation or collaboration as part of the explanatory mechanism of communication. For instance, Grice’s cooperativity principle and associated maxims are used to explain conversational implicature (Grice, 1975)....
